The Canon 80D is also one of the most popular cameras among photographers who are looking to upgrade their DSLR or to get started in photography. Because of its popularity, there are a lot of lens options available for the Canon 80D.
To help you find the perfect lens for your 80D, we’re going to look at some of the best lenses for this camera. That way, you don’t have to spend hours trying to figure out what lenses will work best with your 80D.
The EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM is a high-performance, ultra-wide-angle zoom lens. Its wide zoom range makes it ideal for digital SLR cameras with APS-C size sensors, and its image quality rivals that of other, more expensive lenses. The EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM has two high-precision aspheric lens elements and one UD (Ultra Low Dispersion) glass element to correct aberrations and maintain high resolution over the entire zoom range.
The EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM uses a ring USM (Ultrasonic Motor) drive to provide silent, fast autofocus action, along with full-time manual focus override. A powerful CPU and optimized AF algorithm ensure fast autofocus speed. The EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM features a circular aperture design for excellent depth of field control and smooth background blur; this feature is particularly useful when shooting at wide apertures in portrait photography.
The Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 DC HSM is a new benchmark in photographic history and a must-have for every camera bag, it is the first wide-angle to standard zoom lens to achieve a large aperture of 1.8. Designed specifically for APS-C sized sensors, the Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 translates to 27mm-52.5mm on a 35mm camera.
Using a special glass molding technology, the Sigma 18-35 delivers outstanding resolution and incredible sharpness through the entire zoom range. Its hypersonic motor (HSM) ensures silent, high-speed autofocusing, and with a minimum focusing distance of 28cm, it allows photographers to get much closer to their subjects than what they are used to with traditional zoom lenses.
This new lens also features a re-designed inner focusing system that minimizes fluctuation of aberration caused by focusing, as well as a floating focusing system that adjusts lens grouping according to shooting distance, ensuring outstanding image quality at all focal lengths and shooting distances. The Sigma 18-35mm 1.8 is constructed of Thermally Stable Composite Material (TSC), which reduces size and weight but increases the durability of the lens while maintaining optimum precision even in temperature extremes.
The new Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM lens is an excellent entry-level prime lens for photographers who want to explore the artistic side of photography. The 50mm focal length is a classic – it’s ideal for portraits, street photography, and candid shots.
The EF 50mm f/1.8 STM has an optimized lens coating that suppresses lens flare and ghosting – more common in digital cameras due to reflection off the sensor. Super Spectra coatings also ensure accurate color balance and enhanced contrast.
The Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 STM features a seven-blade circular aperture, which helps create beautiful, soft backgrounds. And with a minimum focusing distance of just 0.35m, you’ll be able to fill the frame with your subject, even when shooting up close.

This Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM UD Standard Zoom Lens is a great walk-around lens with sharpness, color saturation, and contrast. This lens is great for portraits and landscapes. It has an excellent build quality, with no wobble from the zoom ring and a very smooth focus ring. This lens is also great for video because of the zoom and focuses rings.
The image stabilization works very well for handheld low light shots, having been developed by Canon, especially for video use as well as still photography. The lens has three switches: AF/MF, IS on/off, stabilizer mode 1 or 2 (for video).
The AF/MF switch seems a little superfluous since you can just turn the focus ring to go between manual and autofocus, but it’s there if you need it. The IS switch allows you to turn the image stabilization off if it’s not needed, saving battery power. The stabilizer mode switch allows you to choose how the image stabilization works depending on whether you are shooting stills or video.
The lens focuses quickly in AF mode with quiet operation and good tracking when using the live view focusing option on the camera.
The Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens is a lightweight and versatile lens that is ideal for everyday photos, selfies, and videos. It features a 24mm wide-angle lens (35mm equivalent to 38mm) with a maximum aperture of f/2.8 for great low-light performance. The optimized lens placement helps ensure exceptional image quality from the center to the periphery thanks to advanced Dispersion (AD) glass and Aspherical lens elements, plus a Super Spectra coating that suppresses flare and ghosting for high contrast and color accuracy.
This lens uses an STM stepping motor for smooth, quiet, and continuous AF during video recording, as well as when shooting photos. It also has a full-time manual focus option for fine-tuning your images after autofocusing, simply by rotating the focusing ring on the lens barrel.
The Canon EF-S 24mm f/2.8 STM Lens is compatible with all Canon cameras featuring the EOS EF S lens mount, including digital SLR cameras and compact digital cameras like the EOS Rebel T5i DSLR Camera with 18 55mm Lens.
The Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM Lens is one of the finest lenses available for Canon APS-C/1.6x FOVCF DSLRs. It has outstanding build quality, impressively low distortion, fast and silent AF, and a very nice focal length range. The f/2.8 aperture is a big win for the EF-S 17-55 L IS – it is the largest maximum aperture available for an APS-C lens (as of review time) and it can make a big difference when used in lower light levels or in situations where a shallow depth of field is desired.
The image quality delivered by the EF-S 17-55 IS L is quite good, though certainly not class-leading (at least at review time). It is not as sharp at the long end as some other options and it has much more CA than I would prefer to see in a premium lens. However, these issues are overstated in many reviews – I don’t find them objectionable except in extreme cases and this lens will perform very well for its intended use – indoors or under low light conditions where wide-angle to short telephoto focal lengths are desired with an f/2.8 max aperture.
The Canon EF S 10 18mm f/4.5 5.6 IS STM Lens is a wide-angle zoom lens that features a smaller size image circle, exclusively designed for Canon APS C cameras. Combining powerful performance with high image quality, it has an impressive 0.72 ft minimum focusing distance and a maximum magnification of 0.21x at the telephoto end, allowing you to capture small scenes with ease. It also offers 4 step image stabilization for sharp images even in low light conditions.
The circular 7-blade aperture helps deliver beautiful, soft backgrounds and a stepping motor (STM) supports the Movie Servo AF feature on select EOS DSLR cameras for smooth and quiet continuous AF during video recording. It is constructed with one aspherical element and one UD element to help minimize aberrations throughout the zoom range while achieving high resolution and contrast. For wide-angle photography, there are few lenses as flexible as this one, making it an ideal lens to expand your creativity.
Canon’s EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM lens delivers excellent quality results through the entire zoom range. The built-in Image Stabilizer allows sharp hand-held photos at much lower shutter speeds than non-IS lenses. The EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM features one fluorite and two UD elements to correct chromatic aberrations, and Super Spectra coatings to ensure high contrast and accurate color balance. The Canon EF 70-300mm f/4-5.6 IS USM is a popular zoom lens that provides excellent performance for its price. Suitable for use with both full-frame and APS-C cameras, it is a great option for wildlife photography, sports photography, portraits, and more. It is small and light for an L series telephoto lens, making it perfect for travel.
The IS system in this lens works extremely well. It’s actually so good that it lets you take sharp handheld photos at speeds that are two stops slower than you could without it (i.e., 1/30 sec at 300mm). This is much better than my other lenses that use IS, which let me get away with shooting at speeds about one stop slower than normal.
